From 14 to 16 September 2026, the Bank Guarantee Fund hosted representatives of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka responsible for deposit guarantees and resolution.
The aim of the study visit was to exchange experiences regarding the functioning of deposit guarantee schemes and resolution of banks. The programme of meetings included presentations on both Polish and Sri Lankan institutional and legal frameworks, as well as the practical aspects of carrying out tasks related to depositor protection and crisis management in the financial sector.
BFG experts discussed issues relating to the Polish deposit guarantee scheme and the functioning of the financial safety net. They also addressed matters of cross-border depositor protection, as well as IT solutions that support the process of verifying depositor data and the disbursement of guaranteed funds.
An important part of the meeting was the discussion on the rules governing the use of resolution financing arrangements in bank resolution, as well as the practical experience gained from implementing resolution measures.
The study visit provided an excellent opportunity to exchange knowledge and best practices, which fosters the further development of international cooperation in the field of financial stability.
BFG actively participates in the work of organisations bringing together institutions responsible for covering deposits and resolution, including the European Forum of Deposit Insurers (EFDI) and the International Association of Deposit Insurers (IADI).
